The Spoon Theory: Life with an Invisible Illness | The Fiery One

Today we’re talking Invisible Illness here on the blog.

Many of you have asked me what it is like to have an invisible illness, and for many of you, I haven’t had a good answer. Until now. Recently I started looking for other people here in the online community who suffer from invisible illnesses, to get a feel of how they cope and to hopefully learn how to manage my own life in a healthier way. In doing so, I came across the brilliant Spoon Theory.

Written by Christine Miserandino of But You Don’t Look Sick, The Spoon Theory is a perfect example of what has become my daily life. I highly encourage you to click on over and read it. The concept of The Spoon Theory is that those of us with invisible illnesses have a limit to the amount we can do in a single day, this limit is represented with a number of spoons.

Thank you for reading, and I hope as always that you are happy and healthy.
